Follow these simple steps...
|
| 1. Remove Protective cork and fill up with water.
|
| 2. Fill base with combustible material, such as twigs,
newspapers, or dry grass. |
| 3. Light fire through the hole(s) in side of the base and
face into wind for extra draught. |
| 4. Insert additional fuel through the chimney (keep the
twigs etc small). |
| 5. When the water boils, hold the handle at a 90° angle to
the body of the Kettle – then lift Kettle clear of the base. Use
handle and chain for pouring. |
Be Safe: After use, pour any
surplus water over the ashes to ensure that the fire is fully
extinguished. |
A Kelly Kettle will boil water in 3 to 5
minutes depending on the fuel. Made from aluminium it is essentially a
double-walled chinmney with the water contained in the chimney wall.
Once the kettle is filled with water, simply start a very small fire in
the base, set the kettle on the base and drop additional fuel (twigs,
leaves, grass, paper, etc.) down the chimney. The large internal surface
area of the chimney heats the water very quickly. When the water boils,
hold the Handle at an angle of 90° to the Kettle - then lift the Kettle
clear of the base. To pour, lift it by the handle and tilt it using the cork chain.
